Brighter Reading Solutions tutoring is deeply committed to helping students reach their full potential. Having a strong foundation in reading and spelling improves a child’s self-esteem and results in better grades across all subjects. I am uniquely qualified to work with children who have reading difficulties. I am trained in the Barton Reading and Spelling® System, which is a multi-sensory, kinesthetic, structured, sequential phonics system of instruction based on the Orton-Gillingham approach.

I use several evidence-based, Multi-Sensory and Kinesthetic Techniques. These include The Barton Reading and Spelling System® based on the Orton-Gillingham Approach and the Visualizing and Verbalizing® program developed by Lindamood-Bell® for Cognitive Development, Reading Comprehension & Thinking. The Barton Reading and Spelling® System and the Orton-Gillingham approach are grounded in evidence-based research, and are recognized as effective interventions for reading and spelling.

Barton Reading and Spelling System

This scientific based tutoring program teaches reading and spelling to children with dyslexia or other learning disabilities. Barton Reading and Spelling system is based on the Orton-Gillingham Approach. Colored tiles, phonics, and other methods are combined to create an approach to teaching that takes the guesswork out of reading and spelling.

Tutoring through the Writing Process

Being able to write is often called a "gift". That isn't right, though. Good writing is a skill that can be learned. It is separate from being a good speller or being great at comprehension. Let me take your child to the next level of written expression by introducing writing as a process.

Lindamood-Bell Learning Process

For children who struggle with reading comprehension, I am pleased to offer the Lindamood-Bell Visualizing & Verbalizing program® for cognitive development, reading comprehension and thinking.

The Lindamood-Bell Visualizing & Verbalizing program® is particularly helpful for students who read words accurately and fluently, but who struggle with comprehension. Tutoring using this approach uses a strategy called concept imagery, which helps the child learn how to turn words into pictures or movies in the mind, and then helps the child learn how to turn those images back into words. Creating a mental picture or the ability to visualize the information not only helps a student figure out what main parts are most important, but also helps the student learn to express himself in a logical way so that it is possible to draw conclusions or make inferences about what he or she has read.

The Lindamood-Bell Process helps with reading and comprehension, particularly for children with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. It gets results.
